Abdullah told us: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah told us: Muhammad ibn Bishr told us: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Umar told us: someone I do not suspect among the people of Syria told me, from 'Ubadah ibn as-Samit, who said: When the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, saw the new crescent moon, he would say: God is Greatest, praise be to God, there is no power and no strength except through God; O God, I ask You for the good of this month, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of predestined harm and from an evil gathering.
