قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكُ ابْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَخَّرَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمًا فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ أَخَّرَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمًا وَهُوَ بِالْكُوفَةِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا يَا مُغِيرَةُ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ بِهَذَا أُمِرْتُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِعُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ اعْلَمْ مَا تُحَدِّثُ بِهِ يَا عُرْوَةُ أَوَأَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ هُوَ الَّذِي أَقَامَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقْتَ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ بَشِيرُ بْنُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ.

He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik ibn Anas, from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri: that Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz delayed the prayer one day, so Urwa ibn al-Zubayr came in to him and told him that al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba had delayed the prayer one day while he was in Kufa, and Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari came in to him and said, "What is this, O Mughira? Do you not know that Gabriel, peace be upon him, came down and prayed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed; then he prayed again, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed again; then he said, 'With this I have been commanded'?" Umar said to Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, "Be careful of what you narrate, O Urwa — was it truly Gabriel who set the time of prayer for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Urwa said, "That is how Bashir ibn Abi Mas'ud used to narrate it from his father."
