Yunus narrated to us: Hammad, that is Ibn Zayd, narrated to us, from Sinan ibn Rabi'a, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Abu Umama, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution: he washed his face three times, and his hands three times each, and wiped over his head, and said, "The ears are part of the head." Hammad said: I do not know whether that is the saying of Abu Umama or of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wipe over the leather socks."
