حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَنْبَسِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَدَبَّسِ عَنْ أَبِي مَرْزُوقٍ عَنْ أَبِي غَالِبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُتَوَكِّئٌ عَلَى عَصًا فَقُمْنَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَقُومُوا كَمَا تَقُومُ الْأَعَاجِمُ يُعَظِّمُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا قَالَ فَكَأَنَّا اشْتَهَيْنَا أَنْ يَدْعُوَ اللَّهَ لَنَا فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَارْضَ عَنَّا وَتَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا وَأَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ وَنَجِّنَا مِنْ النَّارِ وَأَصْلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ فَكَأَنَّا اشْتَهَيْنَا أَنْ يَزِيدَنَا فَقَالَ قَدْ جَمَعْتُ لَكُمْ الْأَمْرَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي مِنْهُمْ أَبُو غَالِبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ أَوْ نَحْوَهُ.

Ibn Numayr told us, Mis'ar told us, from Abu al-Anbas, from Abu al-Adabbas, from Abu Marzuq, from Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us leaning on a staff, so we stood up for him. He said: "Do not stand as the foreigners stand, exalting one another." He said: It was as though we wished he would supplicate Allah for us, so he said: "O Allah, forgive us, have mercy on us, be pleased with us, accept from us, admit us into Paradise, save us from the Fire, and set right all our affairs." Then it was as though we wished he would add more, so he said: "I have gathered for you the whole matter." Muhammad ibn Abbad told us, Sufyan told us, Mis'ar told us, from a chain of narrators including Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umamah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of it or similar.
