Al-Hakam ibn Musa told us — Abdullah said: and al-Hakam ibn Musa told it to us — Ibn Ayyash told us, Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Husayn told us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Mu'adh, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: Caution will never avail against destiny, but supplication benefits both against what has already befallen and what has not yet befallen; so hold fast to supplication, servants of Allah.
