حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ تُصِيبُنَا بِهَا الْمَخْمَصَةُ فَمَتَى تَحِلُّ لَنَا الْمَيْتَةُ قَالَ إِذَا لَمْ تَصْطَبِحُوا وَلَمْ تَغْتَبِقُوا وَلَمْ تَحْتَفِئُوا فَشَأْنُكُمْ بِهَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدُّؤَلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى حُنَيْنٍ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ وَمَعْمَرٌ أَتَمُّ حَدِيثًا.

al-Walid b. Muslim told us, al-Awza'i told us, Hassan b. 'Atiyyah told us, from Abu Waqid al-Laythi, that they said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land where famine strikes us; when does carrion become lawful for us?" He said: "If you have not had your morning drink, nor your evening drink, nor gathered green herbs, then it is your concern." Ishaq b. Sulayman told us, Malik b. Anas told us, from al-Zuhri, from Sinan b. Abi Sinan al-Du'ali, from Abu Waqid al-Laythi, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to Hunayn — and he mentioned the meaning of Ma'mar's hadith, though Ma'mar's version is more complete.
