Bahz told us: Shu'bah told us: Wasil al-Ahdab informed me, he said: I heard al-Ma'rur ibn Suwayd say: I met Abu Dharr at al-Rabadhah, and he was wearing a garment, and his servant-boy was wearing a garment of the same kind - and he mentioned the meaning of the hadith that follows. Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from Wasil al-Ahdab, from al-Ma'rur ibn Suwayd - Hajjaj said: I heard al-Ma'rur say: I saw Abu Dharr wearing a fine garment - at al-Rabadhah - and his servant-boy wore the like of it. Hajjaj said, another time: So I asked him about that, and he mentioned that he had insulted a man in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and reproached him regarding his mother. The man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and mentioned that to him, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "You are a man in whom there is a trace of pre-Islamic ignorance. Your brothers are your servants; Allah has placed them under your authority. So whoever has his brother under his authority, let him feed him from what he eats, and clothe him from what he wears, and do not burden them with what overwhelms them; and if you do burden them, then help them with it."
