Abd ar-Razzaq narrated to us: Sufyan informed us, from Ayyub, from Abu al-Aliyah, who said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad delayed the prayer, so I asked Abdullah ibn as-Samit, and he struck my thigh and said: "I asked my close friend Abu Dharr," and he struck my thigh and said: "I asked my close friend" -- meaning the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him -- and he said: "Pray the prayer at its appointed time; then if you catch [the congregation], pray with them, and do not say, 'I have already prayed, so I will not pray [again].'"
