Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Isma'il, Qays told us, from Khabbab, who said: We complained to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was, that day, resting his head on a cloak in the shade of the Ka'bah. We said: "Will you not seek Allah's help for us, blessed and exalted is He -- or will you not seek help for us?" He said: "There was a man among those before you who would be seized, and a pit would be dug for him in the ground, and a saw would be brought and placed on his head and he would be cut into two halves, yet that would not turn him from his religion. And he would be combed with iron combs, tearing flesh and sinew down to the bone, yet that would not turn him away -- by Allah, this matter will surely be completed by Allah, mighty and glorious is He, until a rider travels from al-Madinah to Hadramawt, fearing none but Allah, exalted is He, and the wolf for his sheep -- but you are impatient."
