Waki' told us, Mis'ar told us, from 'Ubaydullah ibn al-Qibtiyyah, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one of us would gesture to his brother on his right and on his left. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, finished the prayer, he said: "What is the matter with one of you, doing this as if it were the tails of unruly horses? It is enough for one of you -- or does it not suffice one of you -- to do like this," and he placed his right hand on his thigh and gestured with his finger, greeting his brother on his right and on his left.
