حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا وَيَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ وَيَتْلُو آيَاتٍ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا وَصَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا.

Waki' narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us from Simak ibn Harb, from Jabir ibn Samurah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deliver the sermon standing, sit between the two sermons, and recite verses from the Qur'an, and his sermon was moderate and his prayer was moderate.
