'Abd al-Samad told us, Hammad told us, Yunus and Humayd informed us, from al-Hasan: that Ziyad appointed al-Hakam al-Ghifari over an army. So 'Imran ibn Husayn came to him and met him among the people, and said, "Do you know why I have come to you?" He said, "Why?" He said, "Do you remember the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to the man whose commander said to him, 'Fall into the fire,' and he realized the wrongness of it and held back? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed of that, and he said, 'If he had fallen into it, they both would have entered the fire together. There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah, Blessed and Exalted.'" He said, "Yes." He said, "I only wanted to remind you of this hadith."
