Affan told us: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Humayd, from al-Hasan, from Samurah ibn Jundub, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pause silently twice: when he entered the prayer, and when he finished the recitation. Imran ibn Husayn denied this, so they wrote to Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and he wrote back to them that Samurah had told the truth.
