Yazid told us, Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Humayd al-Tawil, from al-Hasan, from Samurah ibn Jundub, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had two pauses: a pause when he opened the prayer, and a pause when he finished the second surah before bowing. This was mentioned to Imran ibn Husayn, and he said, 'Samurah has erred (lied).' So he wrote about it to Medina, to Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and he wrote back, 'Samurah has spoken the truth.'
