Affan narrated to us, Abu Awana narrated to us, Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr narrated to us, from Husayn ibn Abi al-Hurr, from Samura ibn Jundab, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he called for the cupper, who came to him with cupping horns and applied them to him - Affan said once: "with a horn" - then he made an incision with a blade. Then a Bedouin of Banu Fazara, one of Banu Jadhima, entered, and when he saw him being cupped, having no prior acquaintance with cupping and not recognizing it, he said, "What is this, O Messenger of Allah? Why do you let this man cut your skin?" He said, "This is cupping." He said, "And what is cupping?" He said, "This is among the best things by which people are medically treated."
