حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو قَزَعَةَ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ حُجَيْرٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ أَخَاهُ مَالِكًا قَالَ يَا مُعَاوِيَةُ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا أَخَذَ جِيرَانِي فَانْطَلِقْ إِلَيْهِ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ عَرَفَكَ وَكَلَّمَكَ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ دَعْ لِي جِيرَانِي فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ كَانُوا أَسْلَمُوا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَقَامَ مُتَمَعِّطًا فَقَالَ أَمْ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَيَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّكَ تَأْمُرُ بِالْأَمْرِ وَتَخْلُفُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ وَجَعَلْتُ أَجُرُّهُ وَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَيَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّكَ لَتَأْمُرُ بِالْأَمْرِ وَتُخَالِفُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَوَ قَدْ قَالُوهَا أَوْ قَائِلُهُمْ فَلَئِنْ فَعَلْتُ ذَاكَ وَمَا ذَاكَ إِلَّا عَلَيَّ وَمَا عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ أَرْسِلُوا لَهُ جِيرَانَهُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Affan told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, Abu Qaza'ah Suwayd ibn Hujayr al-Bahili informed us, from Hakim ibn Mu'awiyah, from his father, that his brother Malik said: "O Mu'awiyah, Muhammad has seized my neighbors, so go to him, for he knows you and has spoken with you." He said: So I went with him, and he said: "Leave my neighbors for me, for they had accepted Islam," but he turned away from him. He stood up in anger, bristling, and said: "By Allah, if you do this, people will indeed claim that you command a thing and then act contrary to it yourself." And I kept pulling him away while he was speaking, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is he saying?" They said: "He says, by Allah, if you do that, people will claim that you command something and then act contrary to it." He said: "Have they really said that, or someone of them said it? If I were to do that, it would only be against me, and it would not be against them at all - release his neighbors to him."
