Abd al-Rahman narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us, from Sa'id b. Abi Burda, from his father, from his grandfather: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Every Muslim owes a charity." He said: "What if he cannot find the means?" He said: "He works with his hand, benefiting himself, and gives in charity." He said: "What if he is unable to do that?" He said: "He helps the needy, the distressed." He said: "What if he does not do that?" He said: "He enjoins good, or justice." He said: "What if he is unable to do that?" He said: "He refrains from evil, for that is a charity for him."
