Abd al-Rahman narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us, and Ibn Ja'far - Shu'ba informed us - from Amr b. Murra, from Abu Ubayda, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari - Ibn Ja'far said in his narration: I heard Abu Ubayda narrate from Abu Musa, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, the Exalted, extends His hand by night so that the evildoer of the day may repent, and He extends His hand by day so that the evildoer of the night may repent, until the sun rises from its place of setting."
