Surayj ibn al-Nu’man narrated to us: Nuh ibn Qays narrated to us, from Ash’ath ibn Jabir al-Huddani, from Makhul, from Amr ibn Abasah, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him — an old man leaning on a staff — and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have had betrayals and immoralities — can I be forgiven?" He said, "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah?" He said, "Yes indeed, and I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah." He said, "Your betrayals and immoralities have indeed been forgiven you."
