Hajjaj told us: Shu'bah told me, from Ali ibn Mudrik, who said: I heard Abu Zur'a narrating from Jarir - who is his grandfather - from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "O Jarir, silence the people for me." Then he said in his sermon, "Do not return after me to being disbelievers, striking each other's necks."
