حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَمِعَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَدَاةَ جَمْعٍ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رِدْفُهُ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ فَهَلْ تَرَى أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ.

A woman from Khath'am asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the morning at Muzdalifah — while al-Fadl ibn 'Abbas was riding behind him — and said: "The obligation of Hajj from Allah upon His servants has found my father as an old man who cannot hold himself on a mount. Do you think I can perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes."
