حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْجَدَلِيِّ قَالَ خَطَبَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنِّي قَدْ جَالَسْتُ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَأَلْتُهُمْ أَلَا وَإِنَّهُمْ حَدَّثُونِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَنْ تَشَكُّوا لَهَا فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ وَإِنْ شَهِدَ شَاهِدَانِ مُسْلِمَانِ فَصُومُوا وَأَفْطِرُوا.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Yahya ibn Zakariyya told us, he said: Hajjaj informed us, from Husayn ibn al-Harith al-Jadali, who said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn al-Khattab delivered a sermon on the day when there was doubt about the start of the month, and said: "I have indeed sat with the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked them, and they told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Fast upon sighting it, and break the fast upon sighting it; and if it is obscured from you, then complete thirty days. And if two Muslim witnesses testify, then fast and break the fast accordingly.'"
