حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسِيرٍ فَأَتَيْنَا عَلَى رَكِيٍّ ذَمَّةٍ يَعْنِي قَلِيلَةَ الْمَاءِ قَالَ فَنَزَلَ فِيهَا سِتَّةٌ أَنَا سَادِسُهُمْ مَاحَةً فَأُدْلِيَتْ إِلَيْنَا دَلْوٌ قَالَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى شَفَةِ الرَّكِيِّ فَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا نِصْفَهَا أَوْ قِرَابَ ثُلُثَيْهَا فَرُفِعَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ فَكِدْتُ بِإِنَائِي هَلْ أَجِدُ شَيْئًا أَجْعَلُهُ فِي حَلْقِي فَمَا وَجَدْتُ فَرُفِعَتْ الدَّلْوُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَغَمَسَ يَدَهُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ فَعِيدَتْ إِلَيْنَا الدَّلْوُ بِمَا فِيهَا قَالَ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَنَا أُخْرِجَ بِثَوْبٍ خَشْيَةَ الْغَرَقِ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَاحَتْ يَعْنِي جَرَتْ نَهْرًا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ و حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ فِيهِ أَيْضًا مَاحَةً.

Hashim told us, Sulayman told us, from Humayd, from Yunus, from al-Bara', who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey, and we came upon a well that was scanty, meaning it had little water. Six of us went down into it, I being the sixth of those drawing water. A bucket was lowered down to us - the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, being at the lip of the well - and we filled it about half or nearly two-thirds full, and it was raised up to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Bara' said: I was searching with my vessel to see if I could find anything to put in my throat, but I found nothing. Then the bucket was raised to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he dipped his hand into it and said what Allah willed him to say, and the bucket was returned to us with what was in it. He said: I saw one of us being pulled out with a garment for fear of drowning. He said: then it flowed, meaning it ran as a river. 'Abdullah said: and Hudbah told us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah told us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Yunus, from al-Bara', similarly, and in it he also said 'one of those drawing water.'
