Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from Abu Ishaq, that he heard al-Bara' say concerning this verse, "Those believers who sit at home are not equal to those who strive in the way of Allah": So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded Zayd, and he brought a shoulder-blade [bone] and wrote it down. He said: Ibn Umm Maktum complained to him of his blindness, so it was revealed: "Not equal are those believers who sit at home, other than those who have a disability."
