Husayn ibn Muhammad told us, Sulayman - that is, Ibn Qarm - told us from Abdul Rahman ibn al-Asbahani from Abdullah ibn Ma'qil al-Muzani who said: I heard Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah say, in this mosque - meaning the mosque of Kufah - "Concerning me this verse was revealed. We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and had entered the state of ihram for umrah, and lice fell upon my head, my beard, my eyebrows, and my mustache. That reached the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he sent for me and summoned me. When he saw me, he said, 'Indeed affliction has befallen you, and we did not perceive it - call the barber.' When the barber came, he ordered him and he shaved my head. He said, 'Can you afford a sacrifice?' I said, 'No.' He said, 'Then fast three days, or feed six poor people, half a sa' of dates for each poor person.'" Affan told us, Shu'bah told us, al-Hakam informed us from Ibn Abi Layla from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah who said, "It was revealed concerning me." Affan told us, Hammad told us from Dawud from al-Sha'bi from Ibn Abi Layla from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, this same hadith. Hushaym told us, Ash'ath informed us from al-Sha'bi from Abdullah ibn Ma'qil from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah in a similar manner, except that he said, "Feed the poor three sa' of dates, to be divided among six poor people." Isma'il and Ibn Abi Adi told us from Dawud from al-Sha'bi from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah - Ibn Abi Adi said that Ka'b entered the state of ihram with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - and they both related it, and both said, "Three sa' of dates, to be divided among six poor people."
