حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَزَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي رَاكِبٌ غَدًا إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ وَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ.

It was narrated to us by Yazid ibn Harun, it was reported to us by Muhammad ibn Ishaq and Ibn Abi Adi, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq - it was narrated to me by Ibn Abi Habib, and Yazid said: from Ibn Abi Habib - from Marthad ibn Abdullah al-Yazani, from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Juhani, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "Tomorrow I am riding out to the Jews, so do not initiate the greeting of peace to them, and when they greet you, then say: 'And upon you.'"
