'Affan told us, he said: Shu'ba told us, he said: Abu Bakr b. Hafs said: he informed me, he said: I heard Abu Musabbih, or Ibn Musabbih — Abu Bakr was uncertain — from Ibn al-Simt, from 'Ubada b. al-Samit, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited 'Abdullah b. Rawaha, and he said: he did not even move aside from his bed, and he said: "Do you know who the martyrs of my community are?" They said: "The killing of a Muslim is martyrdom." He said: "Then the martyrs of my community would indeed be few. The killing of a Muslim is martyrdom, the plague is martyrdom, and the woman killed by her child, all together with it, is martyrdom."
