Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'None of you should say: My slave (abdi) and my slave-girl (amati). And none of your slaves should say: My lord (rabbi) and my lady (rabbati). Rather, the master should say: My boy (fatay) and my girl (fatati), and the slave should say: My master (sayyidi) and my mistress (sayyidati) — for you are all slaves and the Lord is Allah the Almighty.'
