حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَارِجَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِزِمَامِ نَاقَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ تَقْصَعُ بِجِرَّتِهَا وَلُعَابُهَا يَسِيلُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيَّ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَعْطَى لِكُلِّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقَّهُ وَلَيْسَ لِوَارِثٍ وَصِيَّةٌ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ وَمَنْ ادَّعَى إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ أَوْ انْتَمَى إِلَى غَيْرِ مَوَالِيهِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ قَالَ عَفَّانُ وَزَادَ فِيهِ هَمَّامٌ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُذْكَرْ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ غَنْمٍ وَإِنِّي لَتَحْتَ جِرَانِ رَاحِلَتِهِ وَزَادَ فِيهِ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ عَدْلٌ وَلَا صَرْفٌ وَفِي حَدِيثِ هَمَّامٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَ وَقَالَ رَغْبَةً عَنْهُمْ.

Affan told us, saying: Abu Awanah told us, saying: Qatadah informed us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm, from Amr ibn Kharijah, who said: I was holding the rein of the she-camel of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, while it was chewing its cud and its saliva was flowing between my shoulders, and he said: 'Indeed, God, Mighty and Majestic, has given every rightful person his due, and there is no bequest for an heir. The child belongs to the marriage-bed, and for the adulterer is the stone. And whoever claims descent from other than his father, or attributes himself to other than his rightful patrons, upon him is the curse of God, the angels, and all the people together.' Affan said: Hammam added in it, with this same chain, without mentioning Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm: 'And I was indeed beneath the lower jaw of his mount,' and he added in it: 'No ransom nor compensation will be accepted from him.' And in the account of Hammam: that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon and said 'out of aversion to them.'
