حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو وَكِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ ذَهَبَ مَعَ جَدِّهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا اسْمُ ابْنِكَ قَالَ عَزِيزٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تُسَمِّهِ عَزِيزًا وَلَكِنْ سَمِّهِ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْأَسْمَاءِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَالْحَارِثُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Husayn ibn Muhammad told us, Abu Waki' told us, from Abu Ishaq, from Khaythamah ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Sabrah, that his father Abdul Rahman went with his grandfather to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: What is your son's name? He said: Aziz. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not name him Aziz, but rather name him Abdul Rahman. Then he said: The best of names are Abdullah, Abdul Rahman, and al-Harith.
