Waki' narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Mansur, from al-Sha'bi, from al-Miqdam Abu Karima, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hosting a guest for one night is obligatory; if he spends the morning at his doorstep, it is a debt owed to him; if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may forgo it."
