Hayweh b. Shurayh narrated to us: Baqiyya narrated to us: Bahir b. Sa'd narrated to us, from Khalid b. Ma'dan, who said: Al-Miqdam b. Ma'dikarib and Amr b. al-Aswad came as a delegation to Mu'awiya. Mu'awiya said to al-Miqdam: "Do you know that al-Hasan b. Ali has died?" Al-Miqdam uttered the words of return to Allah in grief. Mu'awiya said to him: "Do you regard it as a calamity?" He said: "Why should I not regard it as a calamity, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place him in his lap and say: 'This one is of me, and Husayn is of Ali' - may Allah, the Exalted, be pleased with them both."
