Yahya b. Sa'id narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us: Mansur narrated to me, from al-Sha'bi, from al-Miqdam b. Ma'dikarib Abu Karima, that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Hosting a guest for one night is obligatory upon every Muslim. If he spends the morning at his doorstep deprived, it becomes a debt owed to him; if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may forgo it."
