حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ سَيِّدُ قُرَيْشٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّيِّدُ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ أَفْضَلُهَا فِيهَا قَوْلًا وَأَعْظَمُهَا فِيهَا طَوْلًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِقَوْلِهِ وَلَا يَسْتَجِرَّنَّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَوْ الشَّيَاطِينُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah and Hajjaj told us — Hajjaj said: Shu'bah told us, from Qatadah — and Ibn Ja'far said: I heard Qatadah — from Mutarrif ibn 'Abd Allah. Hajjaj said in his account: I heard Mutarrif, from his father, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: You are the master of Quraysh. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Master is Allah. He said: You are the most excellent of them in speech and the greatest of them in generosity. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Let each of you speak his own words, and let not Satan draw him or the devils draw him along.
