قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ وَبَهْزٌ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَكِيعَ بْنَ حُدَسٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي رَزِينٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُؤْيَا الْمُؤْمِنِ جُزْءٌ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنْ النُّبُوَّةِ وَهِيَ عَلَى رِجْلِ طَائِرٍ مَا لَمْ يُحَدِّثْ بِهَا فَإِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهَا سَقَطَتْ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ لَا يُحَدِّثُ بِهَا إِلَّا حَبِيبًا أَوْ لَبِيبًا.

He said, Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi and Bahz — the meaning being the same — told us, they said: Shu'ba told us, from Ya'la ibn Ata'. Bahz said in his narration: Ya'la ibn Ata' informed me, who said: I heard Waki' ibn Hudas, from his uncle Abu Razin, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The dream of the believer is one part out of forty parts of prophecy, and it rests on the leg of a bird as long as he has not related it; but when he relates it, it falls.' And I think he said, 'He should relate it only to one he loves or one of sound judgment.'
