Sufyan narrated to us from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Kurz ibn Alqamah al-Khuza'i, who said: A man said: O Messenger of God, does Islam have an end? He said: Whatever household - and he said in another place: he said: Yes, whatever household, of the Arabs or non-Arabs, God intends good for, He brings Islam upon them. He said: Then what? He said: Then trials will occur, like patches of cloud. He said: No indeed, by God, if God wills! He said: Yes indeed, by the One in whose hand is my soul, you will return to them as black snakes rearing up, striking one another's necks. Sufyan recited to me, he said: al-Zuhri said, 'aswad subban' [black snakes rearing]. Sufyan said: The black snake rears up, that is, it rises.
