Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us from his book: Ibn Lahi'ah informed us from Abdullah ibn Hubayrah, from Hassan ibn Kurayb, that a boy among them died, and his parents grieved for him intensely. Hawshab, a Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Shall I not tell you what I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say concerning one like your son? A man among his Companions had a son who had begun to crawl, and used to come with his father to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Then his son died, and his father grieved for him for about six days, not coming to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I do not see so-and-so. They said: O Messenger of God, his son died and he grieved for him. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: O so-and-so, would you like your son to be with you now, as lively as the liveliest of children? Would you like your son to be with you as the boldest and most daring of youths? Would you like your son to be with you as a mature man, as excellent as the most excellent of mature men? Or would you rather be told: Enter Paradise, as a reward for what was taken from you?
