حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْقَلِ عَنْ قُثَمِ بْنِ تَمَّامٍ أَوْ تَمَّامِ بْنِ قُثَمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا بَالُكُمْ تَأْتُونِي قُلْحًا لَا تَسَوَّكُونَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ السِّوَاكَ كَمَا فَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ الْوُضُوءَ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
His father said: 'We came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and he said: What is wrong with you that you come to me with yellow teeth and do not use the tooth-stick? Were it not that I would burden my nation, I would have made the tooth-stick obligatory for them just as I made ablution obligatory.'
