Ya'qub told us, my father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, Mu'adh ibn Rifa'ah al-Ansari, then al-Zuraqi, told me, from Mahmud ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr ibn al-Jamuh, from Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day to Sa'd ibn Mu'adh when he had died. He said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had prayed over him, and he was placed in his grave and it was leveled over him, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, glorified Allah, so we glorified Allah for a long while, then he said Allahu Akbar, so we said Allahu Akbar. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, why did you glorify Allah and then say Allahu Akbar? He said: This righteous servant's grave became so constricted upon him that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, relieved it for him.
