Abu Mu'awiyah told us: al-A'mash told us - and Ibn Numayr, from al-A'mash - from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade ruqyah (incantations). Ibn Numayr said in his narration: Then my maternal uncle came to him, and he used to perform ruqyah for scorpion stings. The family of Amr ibn Hazm came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we used to have a ruqyah with which we treated scorpion stings, but you have forbidden ruqyah." He said: So they presented it to him, and he said: "I see no harm in it. Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, let him benefit him."
