Affan told us: Hammad told us: Qatada, Thabit, and Humayd informed us, from Anas, that a man came and entered the row while out of breath, and said: "Praise be to Allah, abundant, good, and blessed praise." When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, finished his prayer, he said: "Which of you spoke those words?" The people fell silent. He said: "Which of you spoke them? For he said nothing but good." The man said: "I came while out of breath, so I said it." He said: "I saw twelve angels racing to see which of them would raise it up." Humayd added, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When one of you comes, let him walk at his normal pace, and let him pray what he catches of the prayer and complete what he missed." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: al-irmam means silence.
