Abu Salama told us: Malik informed us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Thaqafi, that he asked Anas ibn Malik, while the two of them were setting out to Arafa, 'How did you use to do on this day with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him?' He said: 'Whoever among us wished to recite the pilgrim's chant would do so and not be rebuked, and whoever wished to say the takbir would do so and not be rebuked.'
