Abu Sa'id told us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far told us, Yazid ibn Abdullah told us, from Abdullah ibn Khabbab, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade continuous fasting. He said: "Whoever must continue fasting, let him continue from pre-dawn to pre-dawn." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, but you continue fasting!" He said: "I am not like you; I spend the night with one who feeds me and one who gives me drink."
