حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مَخَافَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذَا شَهِدَهُ أَوْ عَلِمَهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ فَحَدَّثْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ قَتَادَةَ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مَخَافَةُ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذَا شَهِدَهُ أَوْ عَلِمَهُ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَحَمَلَنِي عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَنِّي رَكِبْتُ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَمَلَأْتُ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَتَادَةُ وَأَبُو مَسْلَمَةَ وَالْجُرَيْرِيُّ وَرَجُلٌ آخَرُ.

Yazid ibn Harun told us, Shu'ba informed us, from Amr ibn Murra, from Abu al-Bakhtari, from a man, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he witnesses it or knows it." Shu'ba said: "I related this hadith to Qatada, and he said: 'What is this - Amr ibn Murra from Abu al-Bakhtari from a man from Abu Sa'id? Abu Nadra told me, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he witnesses it or knows it." Abu Sa'id said: "That is what drove me to ride to Mu'awiya and fill his ears, then I returned."'" Shu'ba said: "Four men related this hadith to me from Abu Nadra: Qatada, Abu Maslama, al-Jurayri, and another man."
