Yahya ibn Adam told us: Zuhayr told us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Rubayh, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: that they went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey and camped in separate groups - a group with so-and-so, and a group with so-and-so. He said: I camped with the group of Abu Bakr, and with us was a bedouin from the desert-dwellers. We camped among a household of bedouins, among whom was a pregnant woman. The bedouin said to her, "Would it please you to bear a boy, if I gave you a ewe? You will bear a boy." So she gave him a ewe, and he chanted incantations over her. He said: He slaughtered the ewe, and when the people sat down to eat, a man said, "Do you know what this ewe is?" and he told them [how it was obtained]. He said: I then saw Abu Bakr recoiling in disgust, trying to make himself vomit, and vomiting.
