Abu al-Nadr told us, Sharik told us, from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said, "You claim that my kinship does not benefit my people. By Allah, my ties of kinship are joined in this world and the next. On the Day of Resurrection, when a people are brought before me and are ordered to the left, a man will say, 'O Muhammad, I am so-and-so, son of so-and-so,' and another will say, 'I am so-and-so, son of so-and-so.' I will say, 'As for lineage, I recognize it, but you introduced innovations after me and turned back on your heels.'"
