Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Beware of sitting in the roads.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We have no choice but to sit in our gathering places; we talk there.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'If you must, then give the road its right.' They said: 'What is the right of the road, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Lowering the gaze, restraining from harm, enjoining good, and forbidding evil.'
