A man from Banu Amir narrates: 'I entered Islam and my religion became a matter of concern to me. I went to Hadrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be well pleased with him). Hadrat Abu Dharr said: I found the climate of Madinah unsuitable, so the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave me some camels and sheep and said: "Drink their milk." Hammad said: I am uncertain about "and their urine" — this is Hammad's statement. Hadrat Abu Dharr said: I would be away from water with my family, and I would become sexually defiled and pray without purification. I came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) at midday while he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was in the shade of the mosque with some companions. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Hadrat Abu Dharr?" I said: "Yes, I am ruined, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "What ruined you?" I said: "I am away from water with my family, become sexually defiled, and pray without purification." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered water for me. A black slave girl brought a large bowl with water sloshing about — it was not full. I concealed myself behind a camel and bathed. Then I came back. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "O Hadrat Abu Dharr, clean earth is a purifier, even if you do not find water for ten years. When you find water, let it touch your skin."' Abu Dawud states: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated from Ayyub without mentioning 'their urine.' Abu Dawud states: This (the urine part) is not authentic. There is nothing about (drinking animals') urine except the tradition of Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him), which was narrated solely by the people of Basra.

بنو عامر کے ایک شخص بیان کرتے ہیں: میں نے اسلام قبول کیا اور اپنے دین کی فکر لاحق ہوئی۔ میں حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس آیا۔ حضرت ابوذر نے فرمایا: مجھے مدینہ کی آب و ہوا راس نہ آئی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے میرے لیے کچھ اونٹ اور بکریاں عطا فرمائیں اور ارشاد فرمایا: ان کا دودھ پیو۔ حماد فرماتے ہیں: «ان کے پیشاب» کے بارے میں مجھے شک ہے — یہ حماد کا قول ہے۔ حضرت ابوذر نے فرمایا: میں پانی سے دور رہتا تھا اور میرے ساتھ گھر والے تھے، مجھے جنابت لاحق ہوتی تو بغیر طہارت نماز پڑھ لیتا۔ دوپہر کو میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا — آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مسجد کے سائے میں اپنے چند صحابہ کے ساتھ تشریف فرما تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: حضرت ابوذر! میں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں! یا رسول اللہ! میں ہلاک ہو گیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تجھے کس چیز نے ہلاک کیا؟ میں نے عرض کیا: میں پانی سے دور رہتا ہوں اور گھر والے ساتھ ہیں، جنابت لاحق ہو جاتی ہے اور بغیر طہارت نماز پڑھ لیتا ہوں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے میرے لیے پانی منگوایا۔ ایک سیاہ فام لونڈی ایک بڑا پیالہ لائی جس میں پانی ہل رہا تھا — بھرا ہوا نہیں تھا۔ میں نے اونٹ کی آڑ لے کر غسل کیا، پھر حاضر ہوا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: حضرت ابوذر! پاک مٹی پاک کرنے والی ہے، اگرچہ دس سال تک پانی نہ ملے۔ جب پانی مل جائے تو اسے اپنے جسم سے لگاؤ۔ حضرت ابوداؤد فرماتے ہیں: حماد بن زید نے ایوب سے روایت کیا ہے اور «ان کے پیشاب» کا ذکر نہیں کیا۔ حضرت ابوداؤد فرماتے ہیں: یہ (پیشاب والی بات) صحیح نہیں ہے، اور (جانوروں کے) پیشاب کے بارے میں صرف حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی حدیث ہے جو اہلِ بصرہ نے منفرد روایت کی ہے۔
