English Translation
Ibn Mas'ud said: 'You are in a time when its speakers are few and its scholars are many - they lengthen the prayer and shorten the sermon. But a time will come upon you when its speakers are many and its scholars are few - they lengthen the sermon and delay the prayer until the time called "the gleam of the dead."' I asked him: 'What is the gleam of the dead?' He said: 'When the sun turns very yellow. Whoever among you lives to see that, let him pray the prayer at its proper time. If he is delayed, let him pray with them but consider his prayer alone as the obligatory one and his prayer with them as voluntary.'
