English Translation
Abu Wa'il said: I visited Ibn Mas'ud one day after we departed from the morning prayer. We asked permission, and he said: 'Enter.' We said: 'We will wait a moment; perhaps someone in the household has a need.' He began glorifying Allah, then said: 'You have assumed negligence of the household of Abdullah.' Then he said: 'O girl, look - has the sun risen?' She said: 'No.' Then he asked a second time, and she said: 'No.' Then a third time, and she said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Praise be to Allah who granted us this day and pardoned our faults in it' - and I think he said - 'and did not punish us with the Fire.'
